DEMOCRATIC
Gargiulo, 61, is running on the Democratic and Independence lines. The Babylon Village resident has never held office and seeks a two-year term.
Policies:
- Vice chairman and county chairman for the Conservative Party, Gargiulo said his top concern is improving quality of life, having safe streets for children and a strong police presence.
- He said one remedy to growing tax bills is consolidation of services and sharing them across villages, school districts and towns to reduce expenses for individual jurisdictions.
- A retired schoolteacher and longtime high school basketball coach, he said he cares about preserving and improving services for seniors and veterans.
Republican, Libertarian, Conservative
Kevin J. McCaffrey (Incumbent)

REPUBLICAN
McCaffrey, 65, is running on the Republican, Conservative and Libertarian lines. An incumbent in his third term and a Lindenhurst resident, McCaffrey seeks re-election.
Policies:
- McCaffrey said he is most concerned about making Long Island affordable since “nobody leaves Long Island because they don’t like the beaches, but because they can’t afford to live here.” The county, he said, could be more involved in leading the way to affordability by practicing greater fiscal responsibility.
- Her said he supports economic development projects that yield a return on investment, adding he as deputy mayor of Lindenhurst was involved in a 291-unit project now being constructed.
- McCaffrey said he worries about the opioid crisis, adding that while the deaths have declined, even a single overdose or death “is one too many.”
