Louis J. Marcoccia (Incumbent)
Background:
REPUBLICAN
Marcoccia, 70, of East Setauket, is running on the Republican, Conservative and Independence lines. He is seeking his fourth four-year term.
Policies:
- Marcoccia said he would focus on customer service, adding his office provides an online service that taxpayers can use 22 hours a day, seven days a week to make payments and seek information.
- He said he has run an efficient operation, having reduced staff by 33% through attrition, saving the town millions of dollars. Marcoccia said his office has been part of municipal consolidation efforts, using part of a $20 million state grant to provide tax services for the villages of Port Jefferson and Bellport.
- Marcoccia said he runs a transparent office that provides a two-page tax receipt with larger print and more information than previous tax statements. He also has appeared at seminars to discuss changes to the state School Tax Relief (STAR) program.

Dom Pascual
Background:
DEMOCRATIC
Pascual, 38, of Farmingville, is running on the Democratic, Working Families and Independence lines. He is an attorney, bank compliance officer and judge advocate officer in the New York Army National Guard.
Policies:
- Pascual said he would review audits and budgets and recommend “efficiencies to cut waste,” as well as “call out corruption and taxpayer waste due to conflicts of interest” and misconduct. He also would offer seminars on fiscal oversight.
- He said he would hold workshops to educate taxpayers on available tax relief programs to which they may be entitled, as well as seminars on grieving taxes and applying for the state School Tax Relief (STAR) program.
- Pascual said he would improve the receiver of taxes website, offer “better hours” and provide resources such as brochures, electronic newsletters and social media for residents. He said he “will be a public advocate, not simply someone who collects taxes.”
