William B. Ferraro III
Background: DEMOCRATIC
Ferraro, 36, of Selden, is running on the Democratic and Working Families lines. He works as a contract manager for the New York City Administration for Childen’s Services. This is his first run for public office.
Policies:
- Ferraro said one focus of his administration would be road infrastructure. He would improve the quality of town highways, look at how planning decisions affect road quality, appoint a public advocate for road issues, make yearly recommendations for improvements and hold public events to discuss road issues.
- On recycling, he said he would restore curbside glass pickup and weekly collection of all separated recyclables, and strive to make Brookhaven a national leader of recycling and waste reduction.
- Ferraro would address issues at the town landfill by re-evaluating solid waste management practices, encouraging residents to reduce waste, forming a commission to study trash issues and exploring alternatives to current waste management.

Legister, 58, of Centereach, is running on the Libertarian line. She is a sales director for Mary Kay cosmetics and a community volunteer who works with schools, seniors and veterans.
Policies:
- Legister said she would create more affordable housing by converting zombie homes into low-cost housing. She said the town should carve out space designated for affordable housing.
- Legister said the town should foster small-business growth by creating programs to help them get established. More small businesses would lower taxes, she said, adding she would create tax incentives and offer seminars for aspiring entrepreneurs.
- She said she would create a public bank that would provide loans with lower interest rates than privately owned banks. The bank would be modeled on the state-owned Bank of North Dakota, she said, adding public banks also have been proposed in New York City and Los Angeles.

Romaine, 72, of Center Moriches, is running on the Republican, Conservative and Independence lines. Romaine was first elected supervisor in a 2012 special election to replace Democrat Mark Lesko, who had resigned. Romaine is seeking a new four-year term after being re-elected to three two-year terms.
Policies:
- Romaine said the town’s fiscal health is strong. The town has a balanced budget, surpluses in all funds and a AAA bond rating, he said.
- He said he would focus on preventing overdevelopment, preserving key environmental parcels, and protecting open space. He said the town has preserved pine barrens properties along the Carmans River and acted to protect 800 acres in Shoreham from a proposed solar farm.
- Romaine said the town has created abandoned properties and foreclosure registries to prevent squatters and other problems at vacant houses. He said the town demolished 300 vacant houses and cleaned up to 3,000 other abandoned properties.
